7 November 2010, 06:00

A 17-year-old girl has told police she was assualted by three men.

Police are asking anyone who was in the area of Vange Place in Haverhill between 8.30pm and 11.30pm on Thursday evening, 4 November, to come forward after a 17-year-old girl reported being assaulted by three men.

The girl said she had walked from the Tesco store along the footpath to the rear of the leisure centre when she met three men who asked her to buy some cigarettes for them. When she refused she said she was assaulted by the men. After the incident she walked to a friends house and reported it.

One man is described as white, in his 20s, of slim build, around 5ft 5ins tall and was wearing white or grey dirty tracksuit bottoms and a grey top, another was in his early 30s, white with a tanned complexion and a dirty beard and dark coloured quite scruffy hair, slimmer and taller than the first man and was wearing a bowler style hat, white/grey dirty tracksuit bottoms and a bright coloured jacket with a pattern on.

The third man was described as older, possibly in his mid 40s to early 50s, was shorter and of bigger build and had a black eye and was wearing a dirty white baseball cap.

Police are urging anyone who was in the area around this time to come forward, regardless of whether they think they saw anything of use, and would also like to hear from anyone who may have seen the teenage girl or three men matching this distinctive description in the vicinity during the evening.

Officers are particularly keen to trace a man described as white, around 20 years old, with a beard, dark coloured hair and glasses who was carrying a carrier bag who the girl said she spoke to on route to her friends house after the incident.
