Woman Charged After Baby Found Alone

She's been charged with child neglect after a baby boy was found alone in the street.

Norfolk Constabulary officers were to Barrett Road in Norwich shortly before 9.30am today Sunday 3 July following concerns for the safety of a child.

Police were contacted after a member of the public discovered a baby boy unattended in the area and the child was located safe and well.

Officers are keen to trace the driver of a light coloured grey or silver people carrier seen in the area around the time of the incident. It is believed the driver was forced to take avoiding action as a result of the child being unattended. The male driver and female passenger stopped at the scene but had left prior to police arriving.

Officers believe the driver and passenger may hold vital information and are keen for them to come forward.

A 39-year-old woman has been arrested in connection with the incident and remains in police custody.

Anyone with information in relation to the incident should contact PC Steven Harrowing at Bethel Street Police Station on 0845 456 4567.
