8 Year Old Girl Attacked By Dog

Northants Police are appealing for information after an eight-year-old girl was bitten on the face by a Staffordshire Bull Terrier in the Blackthorn area of Northampton.

The incident occurred between 12 noon and 12.30pm on Sunday 30 October, at the corner of Paddock Mill court and Greatmeadow Road.

A group of children were playing and the girl went to stroke the dog, that was running around off its lead in the company of a man aged in his twenties.

The girl was then bitten on the right side of her face, a wound which required three stitches.

The man walking the dog is described as white and was wearing a grey tracksuit top, jeans and a baseball cap. The dog was a black-and-brindle Staffordshire Bull Terrier.

Witnesses to this incident, or anyone with information, should call Northamptonshire Police on 101 - alternatively, information can be given anonymously to Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
