A man's given himself up after an hour-long stand-off with armed police at a house in Kettering.

Northamptonshire Police went to the building on Wood Street at 12.15pm on Bank Holiday Tuesday 27 December 2011.  The 22 year old man was wanted for questioning about a robbery at a garage in Bayes Street on Christmas Day.

Inspector Carl Sturman from Northamptonshire Police said "We would like to thank all members of the community for their patience and assistance and apologise for any disruption caused.  Robbery is a very serious offence and carries a maximum sentence of life imprisonment.  Thankfully it is still a rare occurence."

Anyone with information about the robbery can call Northamptonshire Police on their non-emergency number 101 or call Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
