Police are investigating the possible attempted burglary of canal boats on the River Nene beside the Carsberg Brewery near Bridge Street in Northampton.

It appears that one of the canal boats was being used as a squat, and police have recovered a very distinctive coin from this particular boat.

It is described as a Canadian silver dollar dated 1973 and encased in a small collectors box liveried RCMP- Royal Canadian Mounted Police.

We would like to trace the rightful owner of the coin, and are also appealing for anybody who witnessed any suspicious activity in the area in the early hours of Monday 18 April to come forward.
