An elderly woman has been robbed of her Christmas present money in her own home in Wellingborough.

A man knocked on the door of 77-year-old's home in Knox Road at 2.45pm on Monday, asking for directions. He then asked for a bandage for a bad leg. When he was refused, he forced his way into the house, knocking the victim on to the stairs.

He made off with her handbag, containing several sentimental items and the money she had saved to pay for Christmas presents.

The victim has been left shaken and bruised.

The man's described as white, in his early 20s, with a local acccent and wore a hat that was pulled down to his eyes and a scarf pulled over his nose. He was wearing a dark coloured jacket and white trainers.
