A 29 year old Kettering man has been arrested on suspicion of setting up fake Facebook accounts to communicate with children.

The man has been released on police bail pending further enquiries with conditions that uphold the safeguarding of children.

The suspect is believed to have used bogus profiles in the names of 'Claire Ann Smith' and 'Joe Smith'.

Any parents or carers of children who discover these profiles as ‘friends’ of their children, and do not recognise the name, should contact Northamptonshire Police on 03000 111 222, referencing incident 354 of 29 September.

Detective Sergeant Andy Blaize, of the Child Abuse Investigation Team, said: “I would like to reassure anyone with concerns about this incident that we take these matters very seriously and specially-trained officers will be allocated to deal with your child if they have been affected in any way."
