Police were called to attend a fatal road traffic collision on the A45 at approximately 2.40am this morning (Tuesday 10 May).
A green Renault Scenic, travelling eastbound on the A45 near Wellingborough lost control, leaving the A45 down the embankment onto the slip road with Turnmills Lane, colliding with a street lamp.
The 36-year-old male driver from Earls Barton was taken to Northampton General Hospital with serious injuries.
The male passenger received fatal injuries.
Police are not in a position to currently name the deceased.
Anyone who was in the area at the time or witnessed the collision is asked to contact the police.
