Police in Northampton are appealing for witnesses after a 30 year old man was hurt early on Sunday morning

He and his friend had an argument with three other men whilst in Millennium Pizza in Gold Street, Northampton at around ten to five and five o'clock.

This continued outside, where punches were thrown.

One of the men then chased the victim and his friend up Gold Street, on the side opposite the Travelodge. They ran into College Street where the victim tripped and fell, at which point the offender jumped on him and stabbed him in the stomach and back. The offender then ran off back along Gold Street.

Officers believe several people will have witnessed the incident as the street was busy and there were people standing outside the Travelodge.

The main suspect is described as black, approximately 6 feet tall, of medium build with very short afro-style hair . He was wearing a light grey top with a zip-up navy blue fleece and black tracksuit bottoms with logos on the legs.

The victim is in a stable condition at Northampton General Hospital with non-life threatening injuries.
