School Place E-mail Blunder

A council's said sorry after five thousand parents were sent an e-mail wrongly telling them their children don't have a secondary school place for next month.

Northamptonshire County Council say the e-mail was sent out by mistake and parents should ignore the information because places already offered in March 2011 still stand.

Parents who have received the e-mail have been sent another explaining what's happened.  Information has also been put on the front of Northamptonshire County Council's website.

The Council say the e-mail was triggered during work to test the school admissions website.
