Police investigating five sex assaults in Wellingborough since the New Year think it may be linked with a sixth.

A 24 year old woman has reported being approached from behind and grabbed inappropriately as she was walking along Cannon Street and into Lister Street.  That happened at 10.15pm on Monday 30 January 2012, but has only just been reported to police.

Northamptonshire Police say the man responsible for the sex assaults has followed the women before exposing himself and then indecently assaulting the victims. The women assaulted have been of all ages and include victims who had been walking home from the town centre after a night out to women walking to work early in the morning.

Detective Inspector Mark Pattison said: "Enquiries are ongoing into this series of sexual assaults and we would continue to appeal for witnesses to any of these incidents to come forward. Officers are working around the clock to find the offender and ensure the safety of the public in Wellingborough."

Despite this latest sex report only just being reported to detectives, Northamptonshire Police say no further attacks have been reported as happening in the last week.

Police say the suspected offender is a white man in his late teens to early twenties. He tries to disguise his appearance by using various face coverings.

Anyone with any information that can help police is asked to call Northamptonshire Police's non-emergency number 101.
