A man's been arrested by police investigating a series of sex attacks in Wellingborough.

The attacks have all taken place on women walking on their own from the town centre to the far north and east sides of the town, either late at night or early in the morning.

Northamptonshire Police say the man responsible has followed the women before exposing himself and then indecently assaulting the victims. The women assaulted have been of all ages and include victims who had been walking home from the town centre after a night out to women walking to work early in the morning.

The 18 year old man from Wellingborough has been released on bail while investigations continue.

Detective Inspector Ali Reynolds said: "We would appeal to anyone who may have seen a man acting suspiciously in the early hours of Tuesday (6th) morning in Wellingborough town centre to contact us as soon as possible. The investigation is ongoing and officers are continuing to work around the clock. Dedicated patrols are taking place throughout the night and officers have stopped and spoken to over 30 lone men who were out and about during the evening or early morning."

Officers say they urgently need anyone with information to call the Northamptonshire Police non-emergency number 101 mentioning Operation Breach, or call 999 in an emergency.
