Put down that remote control, turn off the TV and get active this September with Northamptonshire's 20 Million Steps!

Northamptonshire County Council is setting the county a challenge to walk 20 Million Steps in just one weekend on 5th, 6th and 7th  September.

It's OK you don't have to do all 20 million yourself, that's the target for the whole of Northamptonshire. It's a big challenge, but one that can absolutely be achieved together – so grab your family, friends, and colleagues on the first weekend of September, enjoy a walk and log your steps.

Let’s improve our health, lose some weight and most importantly...have some fun. Walking is easy, free and fun, can save you money on transport costs, make you fitter not fatter, and it’s a great chance to spend time with family and friends, or even have some time to yourself. Unfortunately, Northamptonshire has recently been announced as the fifth fattest county – let’s make it one of the fittest instead!

Get the kids to count how many steps it takes to get to the shops, take a walk around Northampton and see the sights, head to a country park for a family day out, see who logs the most steps during the day at work or simply take the dog for a walk!

The Heart Angels will be at The Grosvenor Centre, Northampton this Saturday 30th August, helping you get ready for the challenge with FREE Heart /NCC pedometers so you will be ready to count your steps!

Catch up with them between 10am - 4pm to get your pedometer and find out more about 20 Million Step Weekend Events.

Plus they will be giving you the chance to win £400 in cash to spend on the family or yourself, just register your details with the Angels and a winner will be chosen at random.
