61% Of Young People In The North East Plan To Vote
More than half of young people in the North East plan to vote in the General Election in May.
With less than two months to go till the general election, new research has found 61% of 18-24 year olds in the North East intend to vote this year.
The research also shows that education policy (42%), youth unemployment (42%) and subsidising university tuition fees (42%) are all important considerations for young people.
Figures show there are currently over 700,000 young people currently not in education, employment or training, which makes youth unemployment high on the agenda for the 2015 general election.
This age group are also calling on political parties to encourage schools to give pupils career advice and make them aware of all the career options open to them before they leave school.
The education charity, NCFE is hosting a Policy Conference on the 17th March which aims to address how unemployment figures can be reduced and how employers and educators can work together to ensure a high standard of training.
