Intu Metrocentre Searches For 'Head Of Fun'
The North East's biggest shopping centre has launched a region-wide search for a new 'Head of Fun' - who must be aged between 6 and 10 years old.
intu Metrocentre, Gateshead, is planning to appoint a Head of Fun, tasked with making shopping a far more child-friendly experience.
And, as the job will involve everything from reviewing toys to helping out Santa's elves at Christmas time, only children can apply.
The centre is looking for someone aged between six and 10 to provide specialist advice of all its children's activities - and, in exchange, they will be paid handsomely in gift vouchers and toys.
The new Head of Fun will be expected to help with the intu Metrocentre Kids' Club and its special giveaways, become friends with the Metrognomes and test new restaurants and leisure activities for child friendliness.
They will also get to meet Santa and his elves and test out all new toys sold in the centre - meaning they will be among the first in the region to find out all about new crazes and toy trends.
The role will not clash with school, as the Head of Fun, who will be first in line to meet any stars and special guests visiting the centre, will only be asked to help out during holidays and half term breaks.
intu Metrocentre marketing manager, Helen Atkinson said:
"The North East is home to some of the UK's most experienced executives.
However, we are looking for someone extra special; we're looking for a cool, creative and confident kid.
Our Head of Fun will need to have endless enthusiasm, an inventive imagination, a knowledge of popular characters and a really good idea of what makes a great toy.
And, above all, they must have an absolutely brilliant sense of fun."
To apply, children must explain in up to 200 words why they think they should be Head of Fun.
Applications can be in the form of a letter, song or even a poem - the more creative the better - and must be accompanied by a recent photograph.
They can then be posted in the post box at Exhibition Square during the Metrognomes Half Term activities from 16 to 22 February.
Alternatively, children can email their applications to email@example.com or post them to intu Metrocentre, Centre Management, Gateshead, Tyne and Wear NE11 9YG.
All applications must be received by Friday 27th March and interviews will take place during the week commencing 13th April.
