A man's in hospital after police were called out to reports of a fight on George Street.
At 12.56pm today, police received a report of an altercation having broken out between a group of men on George Street, Newcastle.
Emergency services attended and a man was taken to hospital, his injuries are not believed to be life-threatening.
It's not known how the man suffered his injuries, although it's thought they may have been caused by a knife.
Extra officers are in the area to offer reassurance to the local community.
Enquiries are being carried out in order to establish what happened and the circumstances of the incident.
Three men have been arrested and are currently in police custody.
Chief Inspector Clare Langley said: "We recognise the local community may be concerned about this incident and have extra officers in the area to offer reassurance.
"Officers are carrying out enquiries in order to establish what has happened and we would ask any witnesses to contact us.
"A man has been taken to hospital, the extent of his injuries are not yet know but these are not believed to be life-threatening."
