A man's been jailed for five years and four months after stamping repeatedly on another man's head outside a bar in South Shields.
Sean Rogers from Orpen Avenue in South Shields was out celebrating his 29th birthday in October last year and was high on drink and drugs at the time.
He pleaded guilty to causing grevious bodily harm with intent.
The 28-year-old victim spent a week in hospital with a broken nose, broken jaw and brain swelling. He had to have a metal plate fitted to his jaw and was left with memory problems.
The judge called it "one of the most violent attacks I have ever seen recorded on CCTV".
