The number of people out of work in the North East's gone down by 2,000 in the three months between October and December

There were 107,000 people here without a job - up by 4,000 on this time last year.

The UK unemployment rate, for the 3 months ending December 2015, was highest in the North East (8.1%).

Nationally, unemployment's fallen by 60,000, to reach 1.69 million.

Average earnings increased by 1.9% over the last year.

It comes as a report claims a third of jobs currently being advertised in the UK could be replaced by robots by the year 2035.

It's predicted manual jobs like machine operators and tree trimmers are among those most likely to go.
