Tributes to Connah's Quay stab victim
The family of a man who was murdered on Deeside say he was "in love with life".
19-year-old Mathew Cassidy died after being stabbed on the high street in Connah's Quay.
His family have paid tribute: "This is a tragic and devastating loss which will forever be etched in our hearts and on our minds.
"Matthew was a funny, caring, thoughtful and loving son, brother, grandson, nephew and cousin to his family and he will be remembered as someone who was always fiercely loyal to those that mattered to him.
"Matthew was just starting out on a career in construction and loved nothing more than to be busy. Working hard and being useful made him happy and gave him a sense of pride in going out and earning the things he wanted.
"He had a big heart and loved all of his family, but none more so than his young cousin.
"Matthew and his cousin would spend hours playing games, making up stories and playing together with toys making each other laugh. When Matthew and his cousin played together Matthew's face would light up with a big smile. The love was obvious for all to see.
"He was a massive fan of music and attending music festivals with his friends. There would always be some music being played out of his bedroom and the passion and vibrancy of a young man in love with life rippled outwards for all to see and hear.
"Matthew will be sorely missed by everyone who knew him. Family and friends alike will forever have a massive part of our lives missing. Matthew is irreplaceable.
"We only hope that through the passage of time our hearts will heal and we can look back on Matthew's short life and be thankful for the time that we got to spend with this wonderful young man who is now safe in the arms of his dearly departed grandparents.
"We now have the difficult job of rebuilding our lives without Matthew. We will honour him and keep his memory alive with the love in our hearts that he gave to us."
Police investigating Matthew's murder and now looking through CCTV footage. Det Supt Iestyn Davies said; "We continue our investigations in Connah’s Quay following the murder of Matthew Cassidy on the 29th May.
"House to house enquiries have been conducted and significant progress is being made in the investigation."
