Welsh Teenager's Killers Lose Appeals

The family of Aamir Siddiqi have been telling Heart they can now start to move on after his killers lost their appeals.

17 year old Aamir Siddiqi was stabbed on his doorstep in 2010 by Ben Hope and Jason Richards.

The pair had been hired as hitmen - but got the wrong address.

The A-Level student had been at his home in Roath, Cardiff waiting for a visit from his Imam.

When he answered the door he was stabbed by Hope and Richards, in front of his parents.

The pair were convicted in February last year and were sentenced to life with a minimum of 40 years behind bars.

They then launched appeals - Richards challenging his conviction while Hope wanted his sentence cut.

This morning, a judge at the Court of Appeal in London dismissed both appeals.

Aamir's sister Miriam spoke to Heart after the ruling: "We're in a state of shock at the moment.

"It's been such a long process, I think it'll take some time to digest all that's happened over the past few years. I think once that's happened we can start grieving for my brother.

"We haven't been able to move on because of the ongoing case and, as a result, we haven't been able to do anything.

"We'll always miss Aamir every second of the day, every moment, no one could replace him.

"He is always in my heart, in every heartbeat of mine. He's always there and he's given us almost 18 years of happy memories - every single day he was a joy for us."
