For younger visitors (and the young at heart). Father Christmas will be visiting a number of the places National Trust look after this festive season. Come along to see him and his elves and share your Christmas wishes.
At Erddig, throughout December, you have the opportunity to join Father Christmas for breakfast, or supper, in the Hayloft restaurant with craft activities, a special story and a small gift for children. Outdoors, kids and adults will love the Alice in Wonderland garden trail.
At Bodnant Garden follow a special garden trail down to the Old Mill in the Dell and discover the Elves' workshop. Get into the festive spirit by making Christmas crafts for family and friends and cosy-up around the blazing brazier with a cup of hot chocolate and toasted marshmallows.
For those wishing to experience the traditions of times past this Christmas, at Chirk Castle enjoy the bygone smells, sounds and tastes of a traditional medieval Christmas. Savour the food and drink and delight in the merriment of medieval music and entertainment.
At Penrhyn Castle they're celebrating the influence the Victorians had on shaping our modern day Christmas and the traditions they started that are still going strong today. Try your hand at making traditional Victorian decorations, listen to carols and stories around the fireplace, play with traditional toys and see just how the Victorians prepared for the festive feast.
At Powis Castle see the garden and castle in an entirely new light this festive season and brighten up the dark winter nights with a walk around Powis’ spectacularly illuminated formal garden, terraces and courtyard.
The Plas Newydd Christmas fair is back and is bigger and better than ever, with more than 60 stalls full of varied festive treats, handmade gifts and local produce – and of course Father Christmas will be there too. This year the event has been extended over four days from December 2-5.
Beyond the big day there are opportunities across North Wales to wrap up warm and walk off the Christmas indulgence with a gentle stroll around one of the gardens we care for or the more challenging mountainous walks across Snowdonia.
