Mum Says Son Is Innocent of Warrington Murder

The mum of a man who was convicted of killing a dad of three in Warrington when he was a teenager says he still has dreams about the future.

Jordan Cunliffe was 16 years old when he was jailed for 12 years following a fatal attack on Garry Newlove outside his home in 2007. 

Cunliffe who is now 22 was sent to prison on a joint enterprise charge of murder. He was sentenced along with two others 19 year old Adam Swellings and Stepen Sorton who was 17 at the time of the attack. 

His Mum Janet says he has changed a lot while he's been behind bars but still argues her son was innocent and couldn't have carried out the attack because of a disability. 

She's told Heart when he is released in six years time he would like to pursue a career in sport, claiming he always dreamt about becomnig a football manager.

Garry Newlove had survived stomach cancer before the killing, he was attacked while confronting youths outside his home. He suffered major head injuries and died two days later.
