Murdered Shafelia's Parents in Court

Mr and Mrs Ahmed from Warrington deny the allegations and looked calm throughout the pre-trial proceedings.

The couple will remain on bail with an additional restriction that they do not communicate with their daughter, Alisha Ahmed.

Mr Iftikhar Ahmed and Mrs Farzana Ahmed were arrested on suspicion of their 17-year-old daughter’s murder in 2010.

Described as a bright and intelligent young woman, Shafilea went missing from her home town of Warrington in 2003. Her body was found five months later in Cumbria.

Following an appeal from Mr and Mrs Ahmed’s defence, the case is to move from their home county of Cheshire to Manchester Crown Court. It will be heard by a High Court judge in May next year.
