Reward to help solve Merseyside murder
Merseyside Police is reoffering a £10,000 reward for information that leads to the identification and prosecution of the killers of Daniel Keatinge on the fourth anniversary of his death.
The 25-year-year-old victim from Higher Lane, Fazakerley, was murdered on Formosa Road, Fazakerley, on Friday, 30 January 2009.
Officers were called the scene at around 7.30pm following reports of a shooting. When they arrived they found Daniel Keatinge suffering from gunshot wounds. Paramedics attended the scene and the victim was taken to hospital where he was later pronounced dead at hospital.
The offender ran away from the scene in the direction of Eagle Dene, Fazakerley, on a footpath leading off Formosa Road.
He is described as white, between 16 and 20 years old, and was wearing dark clothing, and a black Lowe Alpine hat, it is believed his face may also have been covered.
Temporary/Detective Superintendent Dave Brunskill, from the Force's Major Incident Team, said:
"It has now been four years since Mr Keatinge was murdered and I am taking this opportunity appeal once again to the community for their help with the investigation.
"I would like to appeal to those who were in the area at the time to come forward with any information. We are particularly interesting in speaking to anyone who saw a silver car in the area around the time of the murder to come forward. If you were driving a silver car in the area around that time we would also ask you to come forward so that we can eliminate you from our inquiries.
"We understand that people are sometimes reluctant to come forward in the aftermath of such a serious crime as this. The passing of time may enable people to search their consciences and find the courage to come forward to tell us what they know.
"Four years on, people may have moved from the area or may be in a different situation from then and now feel in a position to talk to the police. Anyone with information can speak to us anonymously and in the strictest confidence if need be.
"We will ensure that any new evidence or information is closely investigated by officers.
"The reward of £10,000 is for information leading to the identification and successful prosecution of the person responsible for Daniel’s murder and I would urge anyone who has information which could assist us to contact us immediately.
"Your information could help us make significant progress in this investigation and help us find justice for Daniel’s friends and family."
Anyone with information is asked to contact Merseyside Police on 0151 777 8660, or Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
