Two killed in caravan fire

Two have been killed and two others have been seriously injured in a caravan fire.

Fire crews were called to the Sunny Sands caravan park in Talybont near Barmouth in Gwynedd at 1.52am on Saturday (11) morning.

An elderly woman and a young girl were airlifted to Ysbyty Gwynedd hospital in Bangor.

A North Wales Police spokeswoman said: "North Wales Police and North Wales Fire and Rescue Service are investigating a caravan fire which has left two people dead and two people seriously injured.

"Officers were called by the ambulance service to the Sunny Sands caravan park in Talybont near Barmouth at 1.52am this morning, Saturday 11 June.

"On arrival at the site the caravan was well alight and two people were confirmed to be dead.

"Two females were also airlifted by police helicopter to Ysbyty Gwynedd.

"The females are an elderly woman and a young girl.

"The investigation is continuing into the cause of the fire.
