Simon Dale's Feelgood Favourites
Find out what makes Heart's Simon Dale feel good
Our website team have asked me what makes me feel good… so here we go!!
For the past few years, as summer starts I can’t help getting excited about visiting my wife’s homeland: France. We have a few favourite places, like the stunning lake Annecy, in the Alps.
This is one of my favourite moments of any year: my first splash into the crystal-clear fresh water of the lake:
Another favourite place is Provence. When I lived on the other side of the world, I always wondered whether Provence would be as beautiful as it looks in all the movies and posters…. The answer is YES!
Stunning scenery, food and wine. Wonderful!
Sticking with the French/Provencal theme, a fantastic, feelgood movie I never get tired of watching is: “A Good Year”, directed by Ridley Scott and starring Russell Crowe, Albert Finney and Marion Cotillard.
And the scenery is all around some of our favourite roads and towns – the restaurant scenes are filmed in the very restaurant where my wife and I were saying “cheers!” in the photo above!
And a perfect, feelgood song, especially at this time of year. I first heard it on a road trip through sun-drenched british coutryside, driving the first sports car I’d ever owned. It always feels just like that moment, no matter how often I hear it!
