Not long until the big run
Just over 5 weeks to go until the London Marathon. I’m now at the point where it’s scarily obvious that in the real world I’m not actually cut out for running.
I was heckled by a 3 year-old on a tricycle last week while out training…..who then overtook me. That hurt.
Weekly runs of 15+ miles and any other scraps of exercise that I can squeeze in now fill the diary. And I’m scouring the net for any other little nuggets of advice that might help my achy little legs through the final weeks.
Apparently, short bursts of exercise are supposed to be better for you than a more prolonged work-out. I tried this yesterday with a bit of sprint training. It’s rubbish! You just end up getting more worn out more quickly!
But I won’t be beaten! I’m determined to make to that start line in April (and hopefully the finish, too.) I’m running for the Have A Heart appeal which I’m sure you’ve been hearing lots about during our big appeal week. We’re supporting the Starlight Children’s Foundation and, as a Daddy myself, I can totally appreciate the value of the efforts they make for seriously ill kids.
So please support us, as we support them. Go on, Have A Heart!
