Meet my new 'dog-nephew'

My husband and I have recently become uncle and auntie to a very special someone....

If you've read Simon Dale’s blog you’ll know that he has a gorgeous Labradoodle dog called Carlos. Simon and I were talking about my love for dogs a few months ago and since then I have become “Aunty Bonn Bonn” and Carlos’ designated dog-sitter.

Carlos is in Simon’s words “absolutely awesome”.  He is a chocolate-brown mass of curls and looks like he’s had a professional perm. His temperament is just perfect. He sits and waits for his food, never barks and is everybody’s friend.

For the past week, my husband and I have been looking after our dog-nephew. When he arrived, Simon and his wife proudly showed us his amazing dog tricks that range from rolling over to doing a dog - dance reminiscent of the Britain’s Got Talent winner Pudsey.

As they left Carlos for their week holiday in Turkey, Simon told me that I could have a lot of fun teaching him tricks. I saw this as a great challenge and have been studying dog trick videos on YouTube and trying to impart my newly-found knowledge to my curly friend.

This is where it has all gone wrong. Every time I try to give little Carlos a new order he looks at me as if I’m crazy, cocks his head and walks off.  He has also replaced one of his best tricks with a new action. Whereas a week ago he was dancing with a look of pride in his big brown eyes, he has now taken to humping my leg instead.

Simon’s back tomorrow  and I dread to think what he’ll say when Carlos demonstrates his new interpretation of dancing!!

Check out Carlos and my husband Chris enjoying a bit of downtime at home:
