80's day out
It was everything it promised to be......and more! An 80s day out. A flashback to the year of neon clothes, to shoes with beer bottle tops attached and to GREAT music. I hosted Sundays Alton Towers 30th Birthday bash.
It also registered 44 degrees at one point at Alton Towers. we were directly in the heat. Who needs Tenerfie when you have Alton Towers!!!
On stage first was. Rick Astley who is not only effortlessly great and in tune but also very funny. In the middle of 'Take Me to Your Heart' he said "this got to number 7 and I don't remember it either. At the age of 44 Rick rocks! It's like he has been in a time capsule for 25 years. He told me the secret to looking young is to be have a special woman in your life.
I had a slightly awkward moment when I said to Kim Wilde "I used to love you in the 80s" until I added quickly I still love you now, been a fan for many years. Kim held her set together and managed to get the biggest cheers of the afternoon with the legend of a tune 'Kids In America'.
Then one of the highlights of the day. Witnessing a full on Banarama tantrum. They refused to sing happy birthday at the end of the show. And the lead singer you know the one with the blond hair swapped some prize words with the sound engineer when her mic failed to work. Maybe it was the weather that was getting to them.
