Two bailed over stolen Potter book

Two people have been bailed over the theft of a limited edition Harry Potter book which was stolen in the Thames Valley.

The rare copy of Harry Potter and The Philosopher’s Stone, worth an estimated £6,000, was stolen from the Creative Art Gallery in Woodstock on the 30th October. The book, which was for sale, was being displayed as part of an exhibition.
The gallery employee was dealing with a group of people at the time of the theft.

The book was found wrapped in a plastic bag outside Boots in Abingdon by a member of the public on Monday.

A 36-year-old woman from Woodstock was arrested on suspicion of theft and aiding and abetting an offence on Wednesday. Later the same day, a 39-year-old man from Kidlington attended Abingdon police station voluntarily, where he was arrested on suspicion of theft and questioned.

Both have been released on bail until 21 December.
