Police are investigating an arson attack on a beauty salon in Peterborough.

It happened at Studio Number 1 beauty salon, at the junction of Windmill Street and Lincoln Road, just before 2pm on Friday (16th November).

Two hooded men threw what are believed to be petrol bombs up a flight of stairs into the salon before getting away.

There were about 11 people in the salon at the time and they managed to extinguish the flames with blankets and a fire extinguisher. Two women received minor injuries but no one was seriously hurt.

Detective Sergeant Lisa Alexander said: "We are treating this extremely seriously as the salon was busy at the time and lives were put at risk. Thankfully, due to the quick actions of the customers and staff, the fire did not take hold but it could easily have been a lot worse.

"I am appealing for anyone who recognises the descriptions of the attackers, or has any information about who they are, to contact police. Any information, no matter how small it may be, could be important to this investigation.

"This is a serious crime but it is important to state that attacks of this nature are rare and we are treating it as an isolated incident.”

The first man was described as white, 5’6” to 5’8”, slim to medium build, wearing blue jeans, and a black North Face jacket with a light grey hooded top underneath that was pulled up and possibly over a baseball cap.

The second was described as white, 5’6” to 5’8”, slim to medium build, wearing black tracksuit type bottoms with a white motif on the left thigh and a navy blue Adidas tracksuit top with three yellow stripes down each arm. He also had a hood up with what appeared to be a baseball cap underneath.

Anyone with information should contact Det Sgt Lisa Alexander on 101 or Crimestoppers, anonymously, on 0800 555111
