Cambridgeshire Fire Service say a chemical leak in Wisbech is no longer a threat to public safety.

It was affecting the Mount Pleasent Road area.

Residents and businesses nearby were being told to keep doors and windows closed.

Firecrews were called to the leak at 8.39am.

At 10am the area became safe and was no longer a threat to public safety. Previously, residents had been asked to avoid the area and keep windows and doors closed.

The fire service remains on site to monitor the levels of ammonia.

The East of England Ambulance service say eleven people in total were seen by the Hazardous Area Response Team after the leak and six of those, all workers at the site, were checked by paramedics following possible exposure to the chemical.
