Kev and Abby's Peterborough

So we all know there are some great things to do around Greater Peterborough - read all about Kev and Abby's favourites...

Kev's Favourites...

Central Park: This is one of our cities best kept secrets. Ok, it gets quite busy in the summer months, but all year round if I go to this place I can just feel relaxed. I have taught my boy how to fly a kite here… I have gone for hundreds and hundreds of walks with the dog and family round here… played tennis, let the kids have hours of fun on all the play areas, and I just have so many happy memories of this place. It’s massive, it’s so well kept (won awards) and so near the city centre – plus at the little café they do the most amazing home made Italian ice creams!

Nene Valley Railway – Wansford. This place rocks – as a family day out it doesn’t get any better. My kids always have such a good time seeing how the old steam trains work.. the smell and atmosphere of the place really takes you back to the olden times, and if they are lucky, my two little ones might get to see Thomas.

Surprise surprise: As a keen golfer, I love to get round and play the cities public golf courses. Orton Meadows and Thorpe Wood, built on parts of the beautiful Ferry Meadows Country Park, and extended on flood plain land reclaimed after gravel extraction, are stunning. They have green fees that are very well priced, and you can always seem to get on all year round. The best and most picturesque course in the city is most definitely Elton Furze – and after a round popping into the the Black Horse for a quick drink always goes down well.

Abby's Favourites:

Burghley House: In the summer you can't beat going for a walk around Burghley House it’s the most beautiful place in the most spectacular settings. I have been to some fantastic events there and am really looking forward to their Abby night in the summer. Don't tell Mr. Abby but, I would love to get married there….ha in my dreams!!!!!!

Italian: If I'm heading out for some food it has to be a fantastic little Italian restaurant in Castor called Fratelli, proper home cooked Italian food great for a romantic meal with Mr Abby or for family catch up. I can't get enough of it!

Shopping: If I fancy a spot of shopping I obviously love Queensgate or if I'm feeling adventurous, Stamford, mooching around the quirky shops!!!! And for a special occasion like a dress for my birthday, I head to a tiny boutique called Boheme which is in Wansford.
