Jab Leads to Rare Disorder

A chance in a million's left a Plymouth boy with a rare sleep disorder after having a swine flu jab.

Michelle Furlong's six year old son was diagnosed with Narcolepsy and Cataplexy late last year following the pandemic flu vaccination program in 2009 and 2010.

So far 22 children in the UK have devloped the conditon because they've all tested positive for a gene which is linked to narcolepsy, about 20% of the population have this gene.

Michelle is keen to stress that this condition is VERY rare, but there is a chance that other children could be affected and she's hoping by talking to us that others could come forward to get help and support in dealing with this challenging condition.
