Team Endeavour

On May 8th 2014, a team of ordinary people, will take on an extraordinary challenge and will climb Kilimanjaro, to raise money for Have a Heart.

A former Company Sergeant Major in the Army, Marc Roberts, was diagnosed with Prostate Cancer in 2012. Marc, underwent surgery shortly after initial diagnosis, and, despite being"all clear" of cancer since the operation, still under goes regular screening.

Sgt Ben Hughes of The Royal Engineers, who Marc took through military basic training in 1995, heard about Marc's fight and decided that he had to do something to raise cash and awareness for Cancer Research UK, to help fight Cancers of all types. Despite not seeing Marc for almost ten years, Ben called Marc shortly after his operation and asked if he wanted to be part of a fund raising event.

Ben organised the team, made up largely of serving and retired Soldiers and Officers from the Army, with several key civilian team members. Marc was invited to take part, and the preperation for climbing Kilimanjaro started in December 2013.

Not to be confined to just one cause, the team have chosen to support Have a Heart as well as the forces charity “Remount” and “STOP Hunger”

To kick off their amazing challenge the team held a black tie launch event at the Tower of London on Friday 21st February.
