Take a look back at Mark Wright's ballroom journey. Catch him presenting Club Classics on Heart, Fridays 7-10pm.
It's official, our Mark Wright has been voted out of the final and THE WINNERS of Strictly Come Dancing 2014 are ... CAROLINE AND PASHA! But boy did he put up a fight!, he was an absolute trooper. On hearing the news that he wasn't in the running for the glitter ball trophy, an overwhelmed Mark said, "This has been the best experience of my life.. I've learned so much about myself and I've challenged myself".
His partner Karen told him, "Mark you are now a dancer my friend" and she told the audience, "he is now my best friend" and Mark then sang his dance partner's praises saying, "She is like, the most diamond girl you'll ever meet she's a friend forever".
It was an explosive final as Mark and Karen performed a brilliant Cha Cha Cha dancing to Wham's I'm your Man for their first dance. When they faced the judges after this dance Bruno teased them saying, "In the beginning you were very enthusiastic but your timing went to pieces, however not this time my friend, not this time!"
Before the dance Mark asked Len's permission to repeat The Caterpillar move that he had pulled out in week one and both Len and Bruno gave their blessing.
They scored very highly on their first dance with 8, 9, 9, 9 and Bruno while Bruno praised the "cheeky chappie with a lovely load of charm"
Craig said his walks were "stiff ended" and that he needed more hip action. Len said "they're growing on me the ol' caterpillars!".
Moving on to their second dance the show dance where anything goes and no moves are banned Mark and Karen danced a spell binding and energetic performance to Queen's Don't Stop Me Now. They put so much effort and oomph into this that Bruno described mark as "like a crazed cricket" and Craig said "I did think for a minute I was In jane Fonda aerobic class your joy of dance really comes through". Len cleraly enjoyed the performance saying Mark was "flying about like Harry potter on Nimbus 2000", but their scores of 8, 9, 9, 9 and the result of the phone vote weren't enough to save them and they were the first to be voted out on the second show of the evening. Mark you did us proud and yu were a true sport and a complete gentleman and all on Heart are so very proud of you!
We can't believe the Strictly final is in two days time! Luckily, Mark has kept us up to date with his rehearsals and has revealed two of the dances he'll be performing this weekend.
The first is Saturday's 'Showdance' in which he and dance partner Karen will be moving and grooving to 'Don't Stop Me Now' by Queen. The second is their favourite routine of the series - week five's Samba to 'That's The Way I Like It'. We've got our fingers and toes crossed for you, Marky!
Mark Wright has been rehearsing for the nail-biting final of 2014's Strictly Come Dancing, and it's fair to say our cheeky chappy is pretty nervous!
Here, he chats exclusively to Heart about his tough competition, his triple-dance threat and his plans for a family Christmas.
Yes, our very own Mark Wright is through to the 'Strictly Come Dancing' finals! Toby Anstis catches up with Mark ahead of his last hurrah… as he reveals he's going to have a tougher week than ever before and has to learn THREE dances rather than just two! We have faith in you Mark!
Mark Wright Chats To His Fans Ahead Of The 'Strictly' Finals
Our very own Mark Wright has a very special message for you guys ahead of the 'Strictly Come Dancing' Grand Finale!
Another celebrity shocker on Strictly following Pixie Lott's elimination last week. It's official, our very own twinkle toes, Heart DJ and TOWIE star Mark Wright has seen off 42-year-old dad of two, Eastenders actor Jake Wood, who was hotly tipped to go all the way, in a nail biting round that sees him go through to the Strictly Come Dancing final! Mark won his place in the final with a polished ballroom number and a beautifully passionate modern dance take on the Rumba that got us through at least one box of Kleenex!
Head Judge, Len Goodman therefore had the deciding vote. He said: “This is very difficult. The cha cha cha had little cha cha cha content and the rumba had little rumba content so in that respect it’s a very level playing field. One was totally performance driven, the other was more about artistry and this is for me the toughest of all but I’m going to save Mark and Karen.”
'I'd like to thank all the people at home who voted - it's just meant the world. And I'd like to thank my wife Alison and my two children Amber and Buster as well. Without their support I couldn't have done this.'
Mark's fellow finalists are Caroline Flack, Simon Webbe and Frankie Sandford from The Saturdays.
It was a tough call and a close shave:
Craig chose to save Mark and Karen.
Darcey chose to save Jake and Janette saying: “For me, this is very difficult. The couple I would like to save is Jake and Janette.”
Bruno also chose to save Jake and Janette saying: “I love both my boys but I have to save Jake and Janette.”
Next week at at the final Take That will perform a medley of their songs.
The finalists are in for an excruciating week as they train for the final on Saturday which will take place across two shows on Saturday night.
Until next week, it's been emotional, we just can't wait - over and out!
This Sat in the semi finals I'm dancing the Rumba which is a really sexy, but romantic number to Eva Cassidy's 'Fields of Gold' - love that song as well!
I'm also dancing the Viennese Waltz to Cher 'I Got You Babe' - it's a great number. The Viennese Waltz one is very fun and quirky and us just having a laugh, but then the Rumba is a bit more sexy and a bit more elegant. It's a real real nice number.
I've worked out with all the dances, especially the romantic ones, that you need to learn the dance so much, so that when you're on the dance floor on Saturday night, you're nothing thinking about steps or concentrating on where to go next and you're not counting the beats.
You believe it so much that you're in the story that you smile away. If it's an angry one like the Tango you're in it and fierce, and as I said if it's romantic like this week you've just got to picture a story - It's almost like acting.
For the Viennese Waltz we're doing, I need to be smiley. Whilst the Ruma is like dancing with a ghost of someone you still love.
I cannot believe that I am in the semi-finals of 'Strictly'. I literally couldn't even dance when I started this whole thing. It's a shock - like my reaction in the results show last week show!
Our boy Mark Wright has still got the moves!
The cheeky Essex chap made his way through to the Strictly Come Dancing semi-finals last night after the tensest show yet and was seriously shocked to earn his spot in next week's dance-off - check out that mugshot above!
It was the most controversial exit of the series so far as Pixie Lott was voted out of the competition, but thankfully Mark was saved by his legion of loving fans and couldn't have been more chuffed.
'Sooo happy to get through to the semis !! I was odds on favourite to go tonight with the bookies and you guys changed that. Thankyou. Love u.'
His glam partner Karen Hauer also tweeted her delight at the duo staying in the show.
'I'm still in shock. Thank you guys for keeping us in for a bit longer. Really thankful and proud of our boy @MarkWright_ #boycandance.'
Woohoo! We couldn't be happier for him in the Heart Studio this morning. Here's to another weekend of hip-swinging...
Mark's dance partner Karen Hauer, posted this picture post workout sesh to her Twitter. Looks like they're working him hard!

Mark Wright - Strictly Update Week One
“@karen_hauer: Morning!! Time to crack the whip !!” Oh gggrrrrrrreeeeaaaatttttttt !!— Mark Wright (@MarkWright_) September 24, 2014
It's launch day and Mark is about to find out who he will be partnered with. Looking every bit the ballroom star he's managing to keep his composure…that is until he's put into his very first group dance class! And boy, is he feeling the pressure!
He reveals: "I'm kinda used to being on camera and having cameras follow me around and following my life, however, this is a little bit different, sequins spandex dancing - not done that before."
It's just minutes until Mark makes his ballroom debut and in true Essex fashion he admits that he can't actually wait to get the sexy, sequined dance clobber on!
Mark adds: "I genuinely cannot dance, I get called Marky 'no moves' by my friends and family. At a party i'll be the first on the dance floor and that's the way I'm gonna take this show, I wanna have a laugh BUT I wanna do well. There are so many things to be excited about when it comes to Strictly, I keep moaning about the tight clothes and sequins but secretly I can't wait to get 'em on!"
However the Heart presenter is keen to clear up any rumours that he is a professional when it comes to getting a ballroom glow, and insists he has never been tangoed…ever! Mark explains:"I've never worn fake tan! I know everyone thinks I do but I've never worn fake tan - I haven't !"
Mark is the only contestant who hasn't yet been paired with a Strictly professional, but they saved the best until last and he will be shimmying with Karen Hauer. The gorgeous babe is celebrating her third year on the show and even though she is yet to take home the trophy, Mark thinks this could be their lucky year.
He explains: "I am absolutely buzzing, every single morning we go in Karen is just smiling, she's so kind and i need someone to not be too harsh to me she needs to be quite friendly, quite patient with me.
"This is the toughest challenge I've ever had there's only one thing I can do and that's go for it!"
So can she whip our Mark into shape and turn him into "Marky's got all the moves?"
One day to go until the launch show and Mark's fellow contestant Steve Backshall gives his thoughts on how the presenter will fare in the competition. 'Deadly 60' host, Backshall has visited over 100 countries and come face to face with the world's most dangerous animals and he thinks Mark has some animalistic qualities of his own!
It's the press launch and Mark joins a host of stars such as Pixie Lott and The Saturdays singer, Frankie Sandford on the red carpet and he isn't so sure about his spangly outfit.
What do we think of the sparkles guys ? Do I suit them ? pic.twitter.com/S75x9hOOTR— Mark Wright (@MarkWright_) September 4, 2014
With just days to go until the live shows, the nerves are kicking in and Mark reveals he is feeling a little anxious about his ballroom debut. He explains: "Just walking through that big glittery ball, my heart was beating out of my chest."
