Dozens Caught Up In Road Crash
A van and a bus with 31 passengers on board have been involved in a crash on the A1.
Emergency services were called to the incident, involving a single-decker bus, shortly after 7pm tonight.
Police, fire and ambulance crews all attended the scene, around three quarters of a mile west of the Thistly Cross roundabout in East Lothian.
Most of those caught up in the crash were uninjured.
The Scottish Ambulance Service said it took one bus passenger to the Edinburgh Royal Infirmary with minor injuries, while firefighters said they helped to release the bus driver after his foot became trapped in the crash.
The road will be closed in both directions until at least midnight, police confirmed.
The Scottish Fire and Rescue Service said they initially sent crews from Haddington, Tranent, Dunbar, and Newcraighall to the crash site.
A spokeswoman said: "We were called out by the ambulance service.
"The bus driver was trapped by his foot. He was uninjured but we used smal tools to release him.
"There were 31 passengers on the bus.''
Police Scotland confirmed they remain in attendance at the scene.
A spokesman said the crash happened on the northbound side.
The bus passengers completed their journey with another company, he said.
The spokesman added: "The road is closed until at least midnight because of debris.''
The Scottish Government says the merger would make railway policing more accountable.
Grants ranging from £500 up to £10,000 are being allocated to 494 grassroots organisations across the country.
A HMICS report on how the service is managed and delivered by the SPA makes 23 recommendations for improvement.
