Extra Games Tickets Go On Sale

The first tickets for this summer's Commonwealth Games will be dispatched to sports fans on the day that more go on sale.

Deliveries will continue over the coming weeks, with everyone who has bought Glasgow 2014 tickets expected to receive them during the month of May.

About 2.3 million applications were made for the initial one million that were released last year.

More than 100,000 extra tickets across all sports at the Commonwealth Games will go on general sale today.

Organisers said the finalising of venue layouts and seating plans at Glasgow 2014 has allowed them to find the extra tickets.

Seats for all 17 sports and the opening and closing ceremonies will be sold on a first-come, first-served basis from 10am.

Tickets will be sent by Ticketmaster using a Tracked Delivery Service, for all UK addresses, or UPS delivery service, for all European and international addresses, and will need to be signed for.

Recipients will receive their tickets in a specially-designed Spectator Guide which aims to help them get the most out of their experience of the Games.

As well as pull-out maps showing how to get around Glasgow 2014 venues, the guides include details on planning travel, how to get involved in Festival 2014 and tips for exploring Glasgow and Scotland.

The release of extra tickets comes as the Queen's Baton touched down on the British Isles yesterday, arriving in Jersey.

For the next 32 days, it will travel through Jersey, Guernsey, the Isle of Man, Northern Ireland, Wales and England, before beginning a 40-day journey through 400 communities across Scotland on June 14.
