Police have named a 29-year-old woman who has died in a one-car crash in Fife.

Sharon Smith, from Glasgow, was pronounced dead at the scene of the incident, on the A985 near High Valleyfield.

She was driving the blue Skoda Fabia when the crash happened around 2.30am on Sunday.

Police Sergeant James Henry, of Fife division's road policing unit, said: "This is a tragic incident where a young woman has lost her life and our thoughts are with her family at this time.''

He has asked anyone with information to contact officers.

Meanwhile, a cyclist is in a serious condition in hospital after he was hit by a car near the Erskine Bridge.

He was travelling along the A82 towards the bridge when he was struck.

He was taken by ambulance to Glasgow's Queen Elizabeth University Hospital. The driver of the car, a Vauxhall Mokka, was uninjured.

The road was closed following the crash to allow scene investigators to carry out their work.

Police are appealing to motorists who were on the A82 to contact them. They are also seeking any dash cam footage which could help their inquiry.
