Homophobic Abuse On Train

Police are attempting to trace a train passenger who subjected a female couple to homophobic abuse.

The incident happened shortly after the departure of the 2.59pm service from Glasgow Queen Street to Alloa, Clackmannanshire, on Sunday.

The woman traveller abused two other female passengers, aged 29 and 30, who contacted British Transport Police (BTP) by text.

She is described as between 40 and 50, with glasses and blonde, bobbed hair, and wore a pink and purple top.

She was travelling in the company of at least six other women and left the train when it arrived at Alloa.

BTP officer Constable Nicky Ritchie said: ``Hate crime in any form is totally unacceptable and there is absolutely no excuse for the sort of behaviour displayed by the woman.

"I am keen to hear from anyone who was on the train or at any of the stations and can identify the suspect, or has information which can assist our enquiry.''
