LISTEN: Scottish woman in Charlotte talks about violent protests

Heart's been speaking to a Scottish woman living in Charlotte about the violent demonstrations there.

Jane says her school is on standby to go into lockdown at any moment, and most people are sad about the situation rather then anxious.

The unrest was prompted by the death of a black man who was shot by police.

It's prompted violence on the streets, leading to dozens of arrests and injuries.

The 43-year-old was killed on Tuesday as part of a police search for another suspect in Charlotte, North Carolina.

His relatives have watched a video of the shooting and say he had his hands by his side at the time.
