Man Arrested After 'Explosives' Found
A man has been arrested after police investigating reports of loud bangs from a garden recovered potentially explosive materials.
Officers were called to Gateside Street, West Kilbride, at around 6.30pm on Tuesday after receiving reports of possible explosions from a garden.
They searched a house and recovered "a quantity of potentially explosive materials'' with the help of an Explosive Ordnance Disposal team, Police in North Ayrshire said on Facebook.
There was nothing to suggest the incident is linked to terrorism, officers said.
A number of homes were evacuated as a precaution and all those affected have now been allowed to return to their properties.
