Man Arrested In Rape Inquiry

A man has been arrested in connection with the alleged rape of a young woman as she walked home from a railway station.

The 20-year-old was in Uddingston, South Lanarkshire, on the evening of Tuesday March 24 when she was forced into a wooded area near Castle Gate and attacked.

Police Scotland said a 34-year-old man has been arrested in connection with the incident.

He is being held in police custody and is expected to appear at Hamilton Sheriff Court on Tuesday.

A report will be sent to the procurator fiscal.
