Man Charged After Alleged ATM Ram-Raid in Fife
A 25 year old has been charged after an alleged ram-raid at a Co-op supermarket in Fife last week.
The incident took place in Main Street, Thornton, at around 2.15am on Wednesday May 17.
A Ford Transit flatbed van reversed into the premises and an attempt was allegedly made to steal the ATM inside.
Police said that a 25-year-old man has been charged.
He is expected to appear at Kirkcaldy Sheriff Court on Monday.
The building sustained extensive damage.
Detective Inspector Stewart Andrew of Glenrothes CID said: "Officers have been pursuing various lines of inquiry ever since this incident took place, which has included liaison with our colleagues in Durham Constabulary.
"I want to thank local residents for their support throughout and reassure the community that we will use all resources at our disposal to investigate such incidents.''
A police watchdog probe was launched after the remains of the 52-year-old were found in a house in Dumfries in February last year.
The accident happened at about 7.50pm on Thursday in Moodiesburn, North Lanarkshire.
More than 70 firefighters were needed to bring the blaze under control at Blochairn Fruit Market in the early hours of Thursday.
