Man Hurt By Intruder In Home
A man has been seriously injured after he was attacked by an intruder in his home.
The man, 63, was woken by the sound of someone in his home in Dalry Road in Saltcoats, North Ayrshire, at about 3.20am today.
When he went to investigate he discovered a man he did not know. The intruder attacked him with a weapon before fleeing the property.
The victim was seriously injured and was taken by ambulance to Crosshouse Hospital his condition is described as stable, police said.
Detective Inspector William McDicken said: "This was a very violent attack on a man within his own home which has left him with serious injuries.
"Even though it happened in the early hours of this morning there may still have been people out or traffic passing along Dalry Road.
"I would appeal to anyone who was in the area at the time and noticed anything suspicious or noticed a man matching the description or any vehicle to contact police on 101.''
The intruder is described as between 5ft 10ins and 6ft, slim and was wearing a dark hooded top and dark trousers.
The 26 year old was first targeted in Briarscroft Road.
Euan Johnston was shot in his car last month.
The family of three crash victims took their case for the 59-year-old to be put on trial to the Appeal Court in Edinburgh earlier this year.
