Man In Court Over Disturbance Death

A man has appeared in court charged with murdering a 52-year-old following a disturbance in North Ayrshire.

John Smith was found critically injured at Misk Knowes in Stevenston on Saturday October 8.

He was taken to Queen Elizabeth University Hospital in Glasgow where he died three days later.

Allan Robertson, 26, was charged with murder when he appeared in private at Kilmarnock Sheriff Court on Wednesday.

He was also charged with attempted murder and assault to severe injury, the Crown Office later confirmed.

Robertson, of Glasgow, made no plea or declaration and was remanded in custody.

The case was committed for further examination and he is expected to return to court next week.
