MSPs have voted on income-tax rates and bands in Scotland for the first-time ever, with Holyrood opting to freeze the point at which the higher 40p tax rate kicks in.
Man In Court Over Rape In Park
A man has appeared in court charged with the rape of a woman in a park.
The 28-year-old woman was in the Leith Links area of Edinburgh when the alleged incident happened at around 1am last Thursday.
Faizan Ali, from Edinburgh, was arrested on Friday and appeared in court today.
The 24-year-old was charged with rape under section one of the 2009 Sexual Offences (Scotland) Act, and with threatening behaviour.
He made no plea or declaration at Edinburgh Sheriff Court and the case was continued for further examination.
Ali was remanded in custody and is set to return to court next week.
Detectives are examining CCTV footage and conducting door-to-door enquiries after a serious sexual assault in Renfrewshire.
