Man Killed In Borders Crash

A 26-year-old man has died after his car left the road and hit a tree.

The accident happened near Kirkdean, in the Scottish Borders, at about 9.50pm on Sunday.

Oliver Eaton from Peebles was driving a blue Audi S3 east on the A721, having come from the A702 at West Linton.

Emergency services were called to the scene and the man was taken to Edinburgh Royal Infirmary but later died from his injuries.

Police are appealing for witnesses and particularly want to speak to anyone who saw the Audi before the collision ``travelling in close proximity with a black BMW''.

Sergeant Neil Inglis said: "Tragically this collision has resulted in the death of a young man. Our inquiries into this matter are continuing as we work toward establishing the full set of circumstances.

"I would encourage anyone who was travelling on the A702 or A721 at around 9.50pm or shortly beforehand on Sunday to contact us immediately if they witnessed either of these vehicles.

"In addition, anyone with information relevant to this inquiry should also get in touch.''
