Some of the first babies of the New Year have been welcomed into the world at maternity units around the country.
One of the first to arrive was a baby girl at Aberdeen Maternity Hospital.
Mother Nikole Kidney, from Peterhead, welcomed the youngster into the world at 12.39am on Friday. The child has not yet been given a name.
The same unit also had two other early-hours arrivals on New Year's Day.
Jennifer Arnott, from Ellon, had a baby boy at 2.55am. He weighed in at 6lbs 9oz.
And Zoe Ejebu, of Aberdeen, gave birth to a boy at 5.16am.
Edinburgh's first newborn of 2016 arrived at 1.03am. Mother Carolann Horsburgh, of Gorebridge, Midlothian, gave birth to the 8lb boy at the capital's Royal Infirmary.
Just 12 minutes later, the labour ward at Raigmore Hospital in Inverness saw its first birth of the year. No details have been made available about the birth at 1.15am.
The Highland hospital's second arrival of 2016 was in the form of a a baby boy born to mother Rowena MacDonald, from Skye, at 4.35am.
The first New Year baby at Forth Valley Royal Hospital in Larbert was a baby girl.
The youngster, who has not yet been named, came into the world at 4.24am to parents Jilly and Scott MacKenzie from Stenhousemuir. The girl, the couple's first baby, was 7lb 5oz.
In West Lothian, the first baby born on Friday at St John's Hospital in Livingston was a boy named Reuben.
Parents Megan Proudlock, 23, and John Irvine, 27, of Linlithgow, welcomed him into the world at 4.50am. He weighed 6lb 15oz.
