Paisley Murder Bid Leaves Man Critical

A man is critical in hospital after an attack in Paisley early this morning.

The 33 year old was seriously hurt in an "altercation" in New Street, near to the Weighouse Close junction around 3:00am.

The victim suffered a head injury and was taken by ambulance to the Royal Alexandra Hospital.

Police say it was attempted murder and want to speak to witnesses.

Detective Inspector Stuart Lees from Paisley Police Office said: "Police enquiries are at an early stage to establish more details on circumstances the incident that took place and to identify those involved.

"Officers have been gathering CCTV footage and carrying out enquiries in the area.

"At this time, I would urge anyone who witnesses this incident, or anyone with information that may assist our ongoing enquiry to contact Paisley Police Office through 101.

"Alternatively CRIMESTOPPERS can be contacted on 0800 555 111, where anonymity can be maintained."
